A classic piece representing U.S. military field wear from the Vietnam War era: the U.S. ARMY Jungle Fatigue Jacket. Based on its details, this piece is a 2nd Model from the mid-1960s. The size is LARGE-REGULAR.

In addition to the distinctive presence characteristic of mid-period Jungle Fatigue jackets, what’s most appealing is the generous LARGE-REGULAR size. Since many vintage Jungle Fatigue jackets run small, the L-R size—which allows for a modern, relaxed fit—is a particularly welcome find.

The fabric is a thin, lightweight cotton poplin designed for Vietnam’s hot and humid climate. Its smooth, airy texture—completely different from the ripstop fabrics used in later years—is a charm unique to the early models. The front features a large, diagonally placed chest pocket and hip pockets—a design born of functionality that now exudes an overwhelming sense of cool as a perfected piece of military wear.

A U.S. ARMY tape and a name tape remain on the chest. Judging by the stitching and the patina of age, these details appear to have been present since the garment’s original production. On the other hand, we believe the large, full-color 1st Cavalry Division patch prominently displayed on the sleeve was most likely added later. We’d like to make this point clear so as not to confuse it with the original condition.

The combination of the 1st Cavalry Division’s large black-and-yellow shield patch and the faded OG colors is outstanding. While this does not guarantee that the patch was originally worn as part of the uniform, the jacket’s appearance when viewed on its own is incredibly striking.

The condition is “Used.” In addition to signs of wear and fading from many years of use, there are whitish stains and scuff marks throughout. While washing may reduce the stains somewhat, there is no guarantee they will come out completely. Additionally, damaged areas—particularly the more noticeable ones—have been repaired using authentic military fabric. Including these repairs, this is a piece we hope you’ll appreciate for the unique character of an authentic fatigue jacket that has endured for over half a century.

In particular, the combination of the early “2nd Model” specification, the original-era-style tapes, and the “LARGE-REGULAR” size is not to be missed. Unlike pieces that are too pristine, this garment possesses the unique impact of authentic military gear that has been worn, repaired, and preserved over time.
