Based on an authentic 1960s U.S. military jungle fatigues jacket, this special custom piece features a camouflage pattern recreated using spray paint by our store, MILITARIA 1911.

The base jacket is a 4th Model jungle jacket that omits epaulets and waist adjustment tabs. Furthermore, it comes in the rare X-SMALL REGULAR size.

This camouflage pattern was recreated by our shop, inspired by the individual camouflage techniques used by soldiers assigned to special operations units such as MACV-SOG during the Vietnam War.

MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group) was a top-secret U.S. military special operations organization established in 1964.

They carried out extremely dangerous missions, such as reconnoitering the Ho Chi Minh Trail—which served as a supply route for the North Vietnamese Army—infiltrating enemy-controlled areas, gathering intelligence, and rescuing prisoners of war. Their operations extended beyond South Vietnam to include Laos and Cambodia, and they are known for employing equipment and tactics distinct from those of conventional units.Particularly interesting is their creative approach to equipment.

In special operations units at the time, it was common not only to use issued military uniforms as-is but also to customize them or apply camouflage patterns to suit the mission or the environment of the infiltration area. One such technique involved spray-painting jungle fatigues to create a camouflage effect different from the standard olive green.This jacket was designed and produced based on inspiration drawn from such real-world examples from that era.

It features two colors—black and brown—with an irregular pattern of blurred outlines spread across the entire surface.

From the front to the sleeves and all the way to the back, we aimed to create a look that resembles camouflage applied by soldiers themselves in the field.

The bold spray pattern spreading across the back is particularly striking.

Unlike factory-made camouflage fabric with its regular print, this jacket has a unique character created by the variations in paint density and overlapping spray patterns.

The way black and brown blend into olive green creates a depth not found in solid-color jungle jackets. Furthermore, the base jacket itself is a captivating piece.

It features details emblematic of the U.S. military during the Vietnam War, such as the large, diagonally placed chest pocket characteristic of the 3rd Model, cargo pockets at the waist, and a double-breasted front.

The fabric is ripstop cotton woven with a grid-like pattern of reinforcing threads.

The combination of the thin, lightweight fabric and the spray paint creates a unique texture and play of light and shadow.

Among jungle fatigues, which are often oversized, this piece is exceptionally compact.

It is recommended for those who prefer a slim silhouette or wish to wear it in a true-to-size fit.

Please note that this item is not an original piece actually painted by MACV-SOG personnel at the time.

While the jacket itself is an authentic vintage U.S. military piece from the 1960s, the spray-painted camouflage pattern was applied in modern times by our store, MILITARIA 1911.

Additionally, the paint will gradually fade and wear off with repeated washing, friction, and wear.
